What is the difference between standard and short throw camera?
The short answer is: with Short throw camera you save on the real estate so you can get a bigger screen in a small space.
When do you need it? If your room is smaller then 10X20FT or if you are commercial use or moving with the simulator between different locations, we recommend to use the short throw camera with a short throw projector.
If you are using the Smokeless Range® in your large basement, there is no need to buy the short throw, and the standard throw is more then enough.
To be more technical:
The standard Smokeless Range ® camera ratio is 1:1.6. The ratio for the short throw is 1:0.5.
What all of this means to you?
If your screen size is 10 feet by 10 feet, with a standard camera, the camera and projector need to be ~16 feet away from the screen. With a short throw camera, you can be ~5 feet away from the screen. As the shooter need to be behind the camera and projector, Using the short throw will leave you with bigger space to stand with the same size screen.
Another advantage of the short throw is that it has an external filter, that allows the user to use red filter or an Infrared (optional, not included) filter to assist with harsh lighting conditions.
